2011 Grand Marshal: General Russel Honore'

Lieutenant General Honore' retired from the U.S.Army in 2008 following 37 years of active service. He served as Commander of the First Army and commanded Joint Task Force-Katrina. In that capacity, he led the Department of Defense response to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana and directed the operations of over 22,000 service members. General Honore' is a native of Point Coupee parish and a graduate of Southern University. He is chairman of the Louisiana Bicentennial Commission



Congratulations to our 2011 Resident of the Year, Norman Borne, and his wife Lucille. Norman is honored for his service to the Civic Association, including performing the required annual audit for many years. They are noted for the perennial award-winning Christmas decorations at their home.
